Flashlight Special: Who Said Graduates of St. John’s Don’t Make it Big?

Hey there, stressful Johnnies,

Well, just like all of you reading this post, I am stressing out hardcore! I got one of my finals out of the way, and got two more to go (doubtful that you really cared, but too bad, I’m telling you anyways). Now, before you go commit academic suicide, just know that the work you are doing could lead to something big in the future. Maybe even famous!

Before I did this, I walked around campus to see if I could get some influence on who the students wanted to see in the post.

“There are famous people who have graduated from St. John’s?” replied one student.

“How about Britney Spears?” replied another. (I really wish I could have made that one up)

Our Last Bow…

Hey St. John’s…

As we all know, we are inching closer and closer to the end of the semester (insert excitement dance here). Time for the finals, the massive amounts of ramen noodles consumption, and the beautiful thoughts of vacation.

Well, as you may or may not know about our blog, we are a group of students here on campus actually taking a class in online news, and this was our major assignment of the semester. We were here to keep you guys informed on the news within the confines of the university, as well as any odds and ends that we seemed deemed right for you.

We really had fun writing for you guys, so we have all figured we would give you one more great week of blogs for this semester. So, the entire staff is locked on to giving you guys the news you will need to know about YOUR university, YOUR thoughts, and YOUR future. We will be doing feature stories all week long to keep you entertained during finals week. Famous alums, students opinions on the state of the university, and what our graduating/graduated students are doing now.

So, we hope you all stay tuned in all week long as you struggle to get those high marks (insert grunts and gurgles here)

We all have enjoyed starting this blog for you guys. We all started off having no idea what we were getting ourselves into but now, thanks to you guys, our success and viewers continue to grow. We have no one else to thank but all of you students who followed us all semester. Without you, were not here right now.

In conclusion, stay tuned this week! I promise it will be a much needed break. And be prepared for future plans on the site, as most or all of us will continue to keep giving our insight on the outside world after the semester end.

Canadian-Style Thanksgiving: Live Blog

What’s Going on, St. John’s,

First off, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope wherever you are today, you are enjoying the turkey and pies you’ll be eating today.

Well, I am blogging today from my aunts house on the East Side of Manchester, NH. I figured, since we will all have a different experience today with our families, that today I would keep a running blog of every awkward, stuffing, and alcohol induced moment around the household. That way, you can see how we do it over on the canadian side of the spectrum. So, come along with me on this journey to turkey heaven…

Life Back Home: New Hampshire or Bust

It has been a while since I have been at the blog (hope you missed me). Since I’ve been away, I have left the hectic life in the big city and my small dorm room and have now settled in a much larger bedroom within the little city of Manchester, NH. Since its been a while, I figured I would give you a little insight of what it is like to be back home in Manch-Vegas and show you all how life is in New England.

One Lucky Man…

Hey St. John’s,

If there is one thing I remember from my childhood, It was staying home to watch my good friend Bob Barker and The Price Is Right. It was the best! The other thing I loved to do was watch people just completely mess up the pricing games and the showcase showdown. I remember screaming at my old boob-tube television until I made myself more sick yelling at the woman from Kentucky bid $84,000 for a trip to Kentucky! Just terrible!

Well, Bob has sadly passed away and has handed over the crown of best game show host to Drew Carey. And, I must admit, I haven’t watched as much as i used to, but I happened to come across this on the internet this morning.

In my mind, this child is a genius!

Stuff We’re Loving, Seth McFarlane’s New Projects

Yo St. John’s,

It goes without saying  that Seth MacFarlane and his creation, Family Guy, has taken over as one of the most popular shows in America. We all have laughed when we heard Peter sing the song “The Bird is the Word” over and over and over again. We also have laughed at every Peter vs. Chicken fight. Well now, Seth has taken his creative genius to another world; the internet.

Late Night Snacks Pt. 1, After Hours at Monty’s

For some awkward reason, our school has finally realized i get hungry after 10 P.M. and that I am way too lazy to make anything on my own. I saw the poster to the left about a week ago and was kind of intrigued by it. I mean, this is really the first time I would be excited to step within the confines of Montgoris, and maybe the last time. In the first part of my review of late night snacks available for St. John’s  student, I take my first trip in the series into the Hungry Johnnie to make my purchase at the newly-installed After Hours at Montgoris…

St. John’s and the City, Nov 7-9

What’s going on, loyal Johnnies,

Trust me, this post is not as bad as it looks!

First off, I would like to congratulate our new president- elect Barack Obama. As a John McCain supporter, I will say that Tuesday did not turn out the way I wanted, but I am willing to accept defeat and give credit where credit is due. This is a meaningful event for many people reading this right now, and I hope that this moment will rest in your mind as something you will never forget.

So, since this is a celebratory weekend, why not go into the city and live it up? Even better, why not do it at a cheaper price than everyone else? Welp, here is your (cheap) ticket to the movies.

And no, this isn’t a movie review, or even a group trip to the theater. This is just an awakening to something we have on this campus that not too many people know about.
