“Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya loses big time to Philippine star Manny Pacquiao

It looks like Oscar De La Hoya fans (like myself) saw him fight his last round, and boy was it brutal. His “dream fight” was more of a nightmare for Manny Pacquiao looked like a youger version of De La Hoya. Pacquiao’s consistency and speed brought back memories from the days when De La Hoya would pound on super stars like Julio Cesar Chavez, or Fernando Vargas (oh yeah if you follow Boxing you remember those fights). Too bad Pacquiao was doing all the pounding.

Christmas Tree Lighting Tonight

St johns will host its annual Christmas tree lighting and firework show tonight on the Great Lawn. The events will begin around 7 p.m.

Here is a list of festivities, as posted via a Facebook blast by members of the festivities Facebook group

7:00 PM – Winter Carnival Mass: St. Thomas More Church

 

8:00 PM – Tree Lighting Ceremony: The Great Lawn

Please join the rest of the University Community as we dedicate our permanent University Christmas Tree, watch a spectacular light show on the Library Facade, and enjoy FIREWORKS by Grucci!!

 

10:00 PM – Student Dessert Party: Montgoris Dining Hall

You’ll enjoy Chocolate fountains, desserts, and seasonal beverages! DJ Zeke will be there spinnin’ your favorite jams!!”

#3 ranked Red Storm mens soccer team eliminated Boston University in a 1-0 victory at home, to advance to Round three of the NCAA championship.

St John’s Food Violations –

November 25, 2008

 

I was skimming through New York’s Department of Health website checking out the health violation points for some of my favorite restaurants around campus and I came across these startling numbers –

FYI the average points in an inspection in New York City is 15 

Montgoris Dining Hall  – 19 violations for (Montgoris was inspected just a couple of days ago)


1.)

Other general violation.

2.)

Food contact surface not properly maintained.

3.)

Wiping cloths dirty or not stored in sanitizing solution.

4.)

Sanitized equipment or utensil, including in-use food dispensing utensil, improperly used or store

 

 

Marillac Dining Hall – 22 violations for

1.)

Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service.

2.)

Cold food held above 41°F (smoked fish above 38°F) except during necessary preparation.

3.)

Hot food not held at or above 140°F.

What else caught my attention? Some of these locations off campus  

   Sly Fox Inn had the most violation points with 45 

Yummy Taco had 26

Dominoes Pizza had 28

Subway only had 4 violations
