STJ Sports Round-Up

Aloha,

I have a bigger list for you this week. And here we go…

Men’s Soccer: Over the weekend (on the Oct. 25), men’s soccer dueled to a 0-0 tie with DePaul. However, the team remains at the No. 4 ranking in the polls and will be taking on Rutgers later in the week.

Women’s Soccer: Another day, another draw! The women’s soccer battled to a tie with UConn on Oct. 26, taking it into double overtime to end it 1-1. They have a big game coming up on Thursday against Big East rival Cincinnati. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals for the 2008 Big East Women’s Soccer Championship to play No. 1 seed Notre Dame.

Women’s Volleyball: Volleyball embarassed yet another team on Sunday, with a clean 3-0 sweep over Pittsburgh. And for the second straight week, senior Wioleta Leszczynska earned a spot on the Big East volleyball weekly honor roll. Huzzah!

Women’s Golf: On a rain-shortened Saturday match, the women’s golf squad placed fourth at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational at the PGA National Golf Club.

Men’s Golf: As for the men’s golf team, they placed third at the NCAA East Regional Preview in Atlantic City, N.J. on Sunday.

Men’s & Women’s Tennis: Men’s tennis ended its fall season at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Yale University. Milo Hauk led the men’s team with a 2-1 record. Ira Aleksova was the women’s standout.

Until next week.
