Sad news today. Legendary actor Paul Newman has passed away from cancer at his Westport, Conn. home. He was 83. Newman had been struggling with cancer for some time despite denials from his representatives. A spokesperson for Newman said he passed away on Friday. Newman was best known for his roles in The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, The Sting, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and his Oscar winning turn in The Color of Money.
In other news, Washington Mutual has become the biggest bank failure in United States history. The banking company, founded in 1889, has had most of its assests and liabilities sold to JPMorgan Chase. How does this affect you? Unless you have an obscene amount of money in your Washington Mutual account (Lord knows I don’t), you should be fine.
And of course, there was the presidential debate, as mentioned in a previous post. CNN reports that polls say Obama won the debate. Both campaigns will soon say they won the debate, if it hasn’t happened already. Here’s a picture!
